AMG SAD/SAF Pneumatic Actuator

The AMG type SAD/SAF pneumatic actuator is characterized by the basic design element of a gear rack. In this case, the rotational motion is generated by the linear movement of two interacting pistons. The piston racks engage with a pinion, which transmits the rotational motion to the armature. The piston movement is influenced by compressed air acting on the piston surfaces.
The lateral forces generated during the piston sliding motion are absorbed by guide rods. This ensures perfect axial guidance of the pistons, allowing the piston seals to function properly and permanently.
According to the rack and pinion principle, a uniform torque process is generated during switching due to the constant effective distance between the rack and the pinion.
For the AMG pneumatic actuator of type SAD, the movement is generated by compressed air. When the outer chamber is vented, the switch shaft rotates clockwise (valve closed). When the inner chamber is vented, the switch shaft rotates counterclockwise (valve open).
The AMG pneumatic actuator of type SAD moves under the influence of compressed air and spring force. For single-acting actuators, only the inner chamber is pressurized with compressed air. The resulting force not only moves the valve in one direction but also tensions the safety spring during the return stroke. In the event of a failure, the spring force is capable of moving the valve to the safe position "CLOSE" or "OPEN".
